Giving Opportunities
Help fund programs. Be a part of our vision.
Generations is dedicated to helping seniors and their caregivers. Won't you partner with us to help support local programs for seniors living in Clinton, Muscatine and Scott counties in Iowa? Anytime is a great time to make a tax-deductible donation. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for both individuals and businesses. Your gift, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated.
Another option is planned giving where individuals make a significant contribution to support services for seniors while receiving financial benefits now or in the future. Please contact your estate planner or an attorney for appropriate legal planning when thinking about gifts associated with wills, living trusts, life insurance or appreciated stock.
To show our gratitude, an acknowledgement letter will be sent to you along with special recognition at our monthly Board of Directors meeting.
Holiday Meals for Scott County Seniors
Volunteer your time. Make a cash donation.
Generations, along with others, provide the resources to bring holiday cheer to seniors who are homebound or do not have family members to share the holidays with. Since 1991, Generations has been administering the holiday meal service on the days of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Every year there are more seniors who depend on these hot, delivered meals during the holidays. Each meal is comprised of 1/3 of the USDA Recommended Daily Allowance for a 2,000 calorie diet. Meals include an entree, a starch, a vegetable, fruit, bread, and milk.
Volunteers will be asked to share their time from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the chosen holiday. Meals will be picked up at Sodexho Food Service located at St. Ambrose University and delivered to homes of the seniors. Each volunteer will be assigned to 5-10 homes and will be given a route in a specific area.
Those unable to volunteer their time may make a donation to help offset food costs by contacting Generations. A donation of $16 will provide one holiday meal for 4 people. Businesses are also encouraged to sponsor meals for one of the holidays.
The Holiday Meals Program is part of the overall AAA Nutrition Program serving nutritious, well-balanced meals to older persons. The AAA Nutrition Program fills an important gap in the community. Many seniors are facing nutrition issues such as lack of proper daily nutrition, difficulty with food preparation, and transportation issues that make it difficult to get to and from the grocery store.
